David Craig Sheldon concentrates his practice in wrongful death, medical malpractice, civil rights, product liability, premises liability, and criminal defense litigation.
He is admitted to practice in the Ohio Supreme Court, United States District Court, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. He is a member of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar, Medina County Bar and Ohio State Bar Associations. He is also a member of the Ohio Association of Justice.
That association is an organization of trial lawyers committed to advocating for the rights of injured citizens and promoting their rights through the litigation process.
Mr. Sheldon graduated from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio in 1983. He received his law degree from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, Cleveland, Ohio, in 1987 and obtained his license to practice the following May, 1988.
He began his law career working for an internationally known firm, Jones, Day, Reavis & Pogue, which is headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio. As a staff attorney with Jones Day, Mr. Sheldon was actively involved in the defense of RJ Reynolds Tobacco Corporation in multi-district product liability litigation throughout the United States.
In December, 1988, legendary Cuyahoga County Prosecutor John T. Corrigan hired Mr. Sheldon and his courtroom career was off with a bang. As an assistant prosecuting attorney in Ohio's busiest county court system, Mr. Sheldon tried over one hundred jury trials. He prosecuted capital murder, aggravated burglary, aggravated robbery, kidnapping, rape, murder, drug trafficking, RICO, and conspiracy cases. For three years, he was a member of the office's 3X Drug Unit, a specially funded unit that prosecuted high level drug offenders trafficking in large amounts of narcotics.
In 1996, Mr. Sheldon returned to his roots in rural Medina County, and began a career as an assistant prosecuting attorney under Medina County Prosecutor Dean Holman. He continued trying felony cases for four and one-half years with that office.
In June, 2000, Mr. Sheldon left public service as a prosecutor and entered private practice with a small boutique personal injury firm, John Brooks Cameron & Associates. As an associate attorney with that firm, he litigated wrongful death, medical malpractice, product liability, premises liability, dram shop, and motor vehicle collision cases. He is especially proud of the settlements reached for a 40-year-old man killed by a drunk driver, and a 50- year-old telecommunication worker who received third degree electrical burns after coming in contact with a 7200 volt overhead power line.
In August, 2005, Mr. Sheldon opened his own law practice. He recently moved his practice to a one story ranch home which his colleague completely renovated this year. The practice is located one-half mile from Medina's Public Square.
David Craig Sheldon is devoted to upholding the rights of the citizenry and helping the seriously injured obtain fair and just compensation from juries of their peers. As the government continues to enact laws that erode our rights to fair trials, just compensation, and protection from unreasonable searches and seizures, Mr. Sheldon and members of the plaintiff's trial bar will continue to battle the government and advocate the rights of the common man. Now more than ever we, the citizenry of this country, need the help of an experienced trial attorney who is zealous and dedicated to protecting the rights we cherish.
David lives with his wife, Elizabeth, and their three children in Montville Township, Medina County, Ohio.
